Geomagic Studio

Geomagic (NC, USA), a software and services firm, released Geomagic Studio 9. This latest release of the digital reconstruction software features three areas of enhancement: 3D feature-based modelling, advanced colour texture generation and greater versatility with user-defined patch layouts.

Geomagic Studio automatically processes 3D scan data for applications ranging from reverse engineering to design and analysis. The software creates accurate models from physical parts, making it ideal for emerging applications such as mass production of customised devices, build-to-order manufacturing and digital asset archiving for automatic recreation of legacy parts.

Geomagic Design X for Artec 3D scanners. Geomagic Design X is an all-round, professional reverse engineering software with a smart combination of history-based CAD with 3D scan data processing, letting you produce feature-based, editable solid models compatible with your existing CAD software. Geomagic Studio (studio.exe) free download, latest version 2012.1.1, Geomagic Studio transforms 3D scan and probe data into the highest quality, most usable 3D polygonal, surface and CAD data, with parametric integration for popular MCAD products (CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, Creo Elements/Pro (Pro/ENGINEER), SolidWorks), using intelligent, highly automated and easy-to-use tools for rapid. Geomagic Studio delivers the industry’s most comprehensive solution for transforming 3D scan data and polygon meshes into accurate surfaced 3D digital models for reverse engineering, product design, rapid prototyping and analysis.

Geomagic Studio 2014

For design and manufacturing engineers, medical modellers and historical preservationists, the new features provide unmatched automation through: 1) the auto-detection of 3D features; 2) a redesigned powerful macro system with the ability to add logic and flow control to automation scripts; and 3) a system that enables users to define their own workflow processes to reduce (or eliminate) time-intensive tasks. With a training time of only two days, Geomagic provides out-of-the-box productivity and allows for an open workflow for ease-of-use in automotive and aerospace applications, engineering analysis and cast and molding industries.

To enable design and manufacturing engineers to detect and extract the features of an object's fundamental design, the 3D Features enhancement optimises a model towards the intent. This function provides the ability to reconstruct 'perfect' geometry from real-world objects and scanned data. New features offer the flexibility of optimised manual creation and auto-detection of 3D features or geometric shapes.

For designers or other engineers requiring self-prescribed patch layouts, the Geomagic Studio 9 Draw Patches feature has leaped one step farther to make creating and editing patch layouts as easy as drawing curves. Meeting the needs of numerous applications for constructing NURBS surfaces, the new feature delivers this simple mechanism which provides continuous curves, straight-line drawing and refined boundary handling.

A significant addition to Studio 9 for artisans and historical preservationists, the Advanced Colour feature offers the capability to convert per-vertex colour models to new representations that use texture maps to retain the full colour resolution. An Image Projection feature completes the offering with the ability to match a 2D photograph of a model with the 3D scanned model, then builds a texture map from the alignment and projection of the digital photo on the scanned model.

Geomagic Studio Release 9 is offered in English, Chinese, Japanese, German, French, Spanish and Italian from Geomagic and its worldwide distributors.
